News about GOT ME/LOST ME

As you may have noticed, I’ve lately taken quite a stumble in my duties as the weekly prognosticator of coming attractions. I apologize to anyone who is let down by the lack of my arrogant and premature work at the chopping block. With my currently unpredictable, fluctuating work schedule and with nearly all of my focus and energy devoted to the paying job, finding the time to watch the trailers, link the IMDb pages, and pound away at an article for five hours on a cranky 10-year-old Dell has developed into quite the unattainable luxury.

I love the idea of GOT ME/LOST ME and the ability to express my joy toward the ever-expanding enterprise of cinema. This is why I’ve decided to condense GM/LM into a feature accessible only by Twitter – through my account @MEIER_in_a_CT. Each upcoming movie for the week will have a tweet devoted to it, my shorthand opinion, and a final rating of “GOT ME” or “LOST ME” – just like the articles except more sporadic.

While my limited free time is a huge inspiration for this move, I must also point out the potential progress of this decision. Both Josh Glasgow and myself have been aggravated for months that the bulk of my main page column “MEIER! in a Crowded Theater” has for the most part only consisted of GM/LMs and the monthly MCT Live posts. The original intent of “MEIER! in a Crowded Theater” was to showcase my all-around observations and capture some of the essence of what I think are key details of making a movie watchable. My articles on Bridesmaids and Let the Right One In are both accurate examples of what “MCT” could and – we think – should be. By organizing the space-crowding GM/LMs to a place where the most hardcore fans of Glasgow to the Movies and “MCT” can find them, there is far less pressure put upon me and more open windows provided for the articles I feel truly deserve the most attention. With Oscar season about to kick into full swing (and given my addiction to the awards), I hope I can convince those firmly against the choice of tweeting GM/LMs that this really is for the better.

I am extraordinarily happy with the overall response to my GOT ME/LOST ME articles throughout the summer. It was educational and fun to see how others weighed in on upcoming films – for when we saw eye to eye and for when you felt I needed convincing otherwise. It is a tradition I want to continue and one I feel could grow more passionately through a social networking site. I hold you the readers dearly in the highest respects and hope we never part ways. Thank you for your time and replies.
